Happy Paws Kennels, Inc. opened in 2008 and is family owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Ken Odom and Dorothy Sansoe. The facility was built in 1971 and has been in operation by Ken’s family for five decades.
We pride ourselves on our excellent pet care. We provide a welcoming and safe environment for your pets on approximately 10 acres in the country.

We are dog and animal people! Ken has worked for veterinarians and has owned his own menagerie including a number of dogs, cats, horses, sheep, chickens, ducks, cows, and goats.
Our staff are dedicated to keeping your pets happy and healthy. Our manager lives on-site and has eighteen years experience in the doggie daycare and boarding business.
We are fully licensed as a business and commercial kennel by Solano County and are proud members of the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating and members of the International Boarding and Pet Services Association.
We serve guests from Dixon, Fairfield, Woodland, Vacaville, Winters, Davis, Sacramento, Solano County, Yolo County, Sacramento County, Contra Costa County and surrounding areas. We even have guests come from as far away as Texas!
“The Real Deal”
We’ve been clients for just over a year. When we received our mandatory evacuation due to the County wildfire, we called Happy Paws, hoping to find a place for our dogs. Since it was the July 4th weekend, we expected that they would say, “Sorry, we wish we could help, but we’re full.” Instead, they said, “We’re full, but we’ll find space. Bring them in.” As always, the boys received great care and we got peace of mind. These folks are the real deal.
“Friendly”
The atmosphere at this kennel is the best I’ve seen. They are very welcoming and friendly. We have a schnauzer and labradoodle that share plenty of space. Touring the site was as easy as visiting our pets. They let us come to the back and see our cat as well as take our dogs for a walk and let them run free in a safe and open environment. We feel that our furry family members are in a safe and loving home away from home with the staff. The kids also thought it was cool to see chickens and horses. Such a good spot and we’d revisit if needed. Relocating with the military can be demanding and the weight that the staff took during these 3 months of house placement time has been a real blessing. Thanks guys!!!
“Extra Time”
Thank you so much for giving us extra time with Diego. If it weren’t for you and your attentive staff, Mark would not have come home to his dog after basic training. It is rare to find someone who goes above and beyond – the care he received at your kennel was truly phenomenal.
Every day after that bloat was truly a gift, and I am so, so grateful.

My husband and I left our Lab and Golden for up to two weeks with Happy Paws and have always been pleased with the service. My dogs actually can’t wait to jump out of the truck when we drive into the parking lot, they are really excited about being there! Great customer service!
“Wonderful Kennel, Location, People!!!”
My husband and I had to go out of town and couldn’t take our boisterous shepherd/lab with us – the catch being we had to leave the next morning. Ron and Mike were great – both with us and our doggie. Once our boy saw everything there, he took no interest in leaving!
Upon picking him up, he was happy, healthy, and obviously been well taken care of. I definitely recommend Happy Paws!
We’re easy to find and conveniently located in Dixon, California, between Sacramento and the Bay Area. We serve the areas of Dixon, Vacaville, Fairfield, Suisun, Rio Vista, Sacramento and all of the surrounding areas.
Take I-80 west to Pedrick Road.
Turn south on Pedrick Road.
Go 5 miles to Midway Road.
Turn right on Midway Road.
Look for Happy Paws Kennels
on the right.
Take I-80 east to Midway Road.
Head east.
Stay to right at fork in the road and cross over the railroad tracks (stay on Midway Rd).
After passing Highway 113, look to the left for Happy Paws Kennels.
Hint: Either way you come you will see a large, white wind turbine (windmill). As long as you are heading towards it you are going in the right direction.
